Blue Hens add another future football foe with looming move to FBS, Conference USA
The University of Delaware’s future in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision continued to take shape Tuesday.
UD announced it will play 2026 and 2029 nonconference games against Coastal Carolina.
The Blue Hens are moving to the FBS’ Conference USA in 2025 after playing their final Football Championship Subdivision season this fall in the Coastal Athletic Association.
Sun Belt Conference member Coastal Carolina will visit Delaware Stadium on Thursday, September 3, 2026, for that year’s season opener.
The Blue Hens will then visit Brooks Stadium in Conway, South Carolina, near Myrtle Beach for a September 22, 2029, return matchup with Coastal Carolina.

They will be the first football meetings between Delaware and Coastal Carolina, which climbed itself to FBS in 2017. Coastal Carolina is 52-35 since with four bowl appearances.
Delaware has also scheduled future games at Colorado and Wake Forest and home against UConn in 2025; at Virginia in 2026; at Penn State and UConn and home against former CAA rival James Madison in 2027; at James Madison in 2028; home against Buffalo in 2029; at Buffalo in 2030; home against James Madison in 2031; and at James Madison in 2032.
CUSA has not announced its future league schedules beyond 2024.
