Big Ten football outlook: Minnesota’s toughest game in 2024

Next up in the way-too-early Big Ten Conference breakdown is the Minnesota Gophers.

PJ Fleck’s team has a fairly easy non-conference schedule with games against North Carolina, Rhode Island, and Nevada before jumping into Big Ten Conference play.

But, right after that, the Golden Gophers face the national champion Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor, so that’s a rude awakening if there ever was one.

To make matters worse, they face USC at home and then UCLA on the road the next two weeks before a much-needed bye after a West Coast flight, something they aren’t used to.

The question is, how god will Michigan be? Will Jim Harbaugh be there? Will JJ McCarthy be in town still? There are a lot of questions in Ann Arbor, but playing the defending champs on the road that early in the season is not kind for the Golden Gophers.

At least they face Penn State at home.
