The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center high school Athlete of the Week voting occurs each week during high school sports competition and recognizes athletes across all sports.

Please do not email your votes; they will not count. Nominations and votes are not the same things.

Athletes are on this week's ballot based on information made available to The Dispatch, and nominations made over the past week.

High school sports: 2022-23 Athletes of the week

Once athletes win during the regular season, they're not eligible to be back on the ballot until the postseason. If athletes haven't won in the regular season, they can be nominated more than once.

The Dispatch staff reserves the right to remove ballots or athletes from the ballot where voting irregularities have occurred.

Here are this week's Athlete of the Week candidates:

Leo Amalaman, DeSales football: Kicked the game-winning 47-yard field goal to beat Watterson 27-24.

Brayden Bayles, Heath football: Ran for four touchdowns and threw for two in a 54-21 win over Johnstown.

Kara Bergeron, Granville cross country: Ran a time of 18:34.22 to win the Division II, District 1 race and lead her team to the championship.

Cameron Goddard, Johnstown soccer: Had five goals and an assist in a 6-0 win over Fisher Catholic. She has 47 goals this season.

Mia Hammond, New Albany golf: Won the state title with a record 136, seven shots ahead of second place.

Vaughn Harber, DeSales golf: Won the school’s first individual state golf title, shooting a record two-day total of 135 at Ohio State’s Scarlet Course.

Diore Hubbard, Gahanna Lincoln football: Ran for 264 yards and three touchdowns on 35 carries in a 35-28 win over Pickerington North.

Brooklynn Johnson, Gahanna Lincoln volleyball: Had seven aces in a win over Pickerington North and eight digs in a loss to Olentangy.

Andrew Leech, Olentangy football: Had nine receptions for 96 yards and two touchdowns in a 39-29 win over Marysville. It was his third consecutive week with nine catches, including five touchdowns receiving and one throwing.

Kaynen Lindsey, Johnstown football: Ran for 187 yards and three touchdowns in a 54-21 loss to Heath.

Trent Markus, Licking Valley football: Rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries in a 23-6 win over Licking Heights.

Landon Montgomery, Heath soccer: Broke the school’s single-season scoring record. He has 40 goals, surpassing Jaden Golden’s record of 36.

Kentrell Rinehart, Ready football: Ran for 341 yards and three touchdowns on 43 carries in a 28-7 win over Columbus Academy.
