Voting is open for the Athlete of the Week.

Deadline is 4 p.m. Friday.

The Athlete of the Week voting occurs each week during high school sports competition and recognizes athletes across all sports.

Athletes are on this week's ballot based on information made available to The Dispatch, and nominations made over the past week.

High school sports: 2022-23 Athletes of the week

Once athletes win during the regular season, they're not eligible to be back on the ballot until the postseason. If athletes haven't won in the regular season, they can be nominated more than once.

Here are this week's Athlete of the Week candidates:

Connor Ackley, Hilliard Davidson track and field: Won the 3,200 (conference- and division-record 9:07.06) and 1,600 (division-record 4:12.75) at the OCC-Central meet.

Okiki Adeniyi, Westerville North track and field: Won the 100, 200 and 400 and helped the 1,600 relay to fourth place in the OCC-Capital meet.

Jayce Dansby, Newark baseball: Struck out 11 and allowed four hits in a 6-1 over Lancaster.

Landry Driskel, Lakewood track and field: Won the discus (133-10) and high jump (4-10) in the Cardinal Division girls meet at the Licking County League championships. She just missed resetting her school record in the discus.

Jess Goldhardt, New Albany softball: Recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts in a 13-0 win over Thomas Worthington in the second round of the Division I district tournament. In two tournament wins, she allowed no runs, four hits, struck out 15 and walked two.

Alyssa Guglielmi, Granville softball: Hit her first home run and doubled, driving in five runs in a 10-2 victory against Licking Valley in a Division II tournament game.

Caleb Jackson, Hartley track and field: Won the CCL discus title with a throw of 137-1.

Kaiden Lanoy, Lancaster track and field: Set meet records in the 1,600 (4:25.51) and 3,200 (9:31.04) in the OCC-Buckeye meet. He won the 3,200 by 31.36 seconds and the 1,600 by 7.24 seconds ahead of twin brother Isaiah.

Ayva Lasley, Upper Arlington softball: Pitched two complete games, winning both and striking out 15. She also hit two home runs with seven RBIs and had a walk-off single in the extra inning to beat Pickerington North.

Daylen McIntyre, Heath track and field: Won the Cardinal Division long jump (20-10) and 300 hurdles (44.13) at the Licking County League championships. He also contributed to the winning 400 (45.87) and 800 (1:33.76) relays, helping the Bulldogs win the team title.

Syncere Royster, Newark softball: Took a no-hitter into the seventh inning in a 6-1 victory over Dublin Jerome in a Division I second-round game. She struck out four and allowed one hit and an unearned run.

Marissa Saunders, Westerville South track and field: Won the 100 (meet-record 14.07) and 200 and was on the winning 400 and 800 relays in the OCC-Capital meet.

Sophia Schwab, Dublin Scioto lacrosse: Scored her 200th career goal and set a school record for goals in a season.

Dakota Staffan, Johnstown softball: Hit two home runs and drove in seven runs in a 26-0 victory over Grandview Heights in a Division III second-round game.

Maleya Thompson, Watkins Memorial softball: Hit two home runs and had three hits and four RBIs in a 12-2 victory over Groveport in a Division I second-round game.

Pavan Uppu, Pickerington North tennis: Went 5-0 in the Pickerington Central sectional, winning every match by 6-0, 6-0 scores.
