Arizona girls' high school basketball players of the week ending in Dec. 16

In another week of high-powered offensive performances, there were no shortage of standouts in Arizona girls’ high school basketball. Here are The Republic’s players of the week ending Dec. 16, 2023:

Noheah Aberle, Holbrook

Aberle finished with 26 points and 12 rebounds against Tuba City on Monday, nearly leading Holbrook to a major upset of one of the best teams in 3A.

Grace Beckler, Chandler Basha

Beckler capped her week with 23 points and 20 rebounds in a loss to Gilbert Higley, tying a school record. She has double-doubles in four of her last five games

Caia Campbell, Gilbert

Campbell continued her excellent freshman season with 21 points and eight rebounds against Perry followed by 13 and four against Chandler Hamilton. She was one of the key reasons for Gilbert’s perfect start, which came to an end in Wednesday’s overtime loss to Hamilton.

Meisha Caserio, Gilbert

Caserio led the scoring for Gilbert in that defeat Wednesday. She had 16 in the contest and is averaging 14.3 this season.

Cassie Coolidge, Tucson Sahuaro

Coolidge averaged 20 points per game for the week. She hit the 1,000-point mark for her career in a win over Tucson Marana.

Thalia Daniels, Phoenix Sandra Day O’Connor

Daniels scored 21, 17 and 23 in O’Connor’s 3-0 week, which featured impressive wins over Basha and Chandler.

Bri’Ann Felix, Glendale Copper Canyon

Felix averaged a double-double in three games as Copper Canyon pulled off its first three-game win streak in two years.

Claire Greenwade, Gilbert Higley

Higley has been one of the surprises of the season, starting 7-2 after last year’s 9-17 finish. The freshman Greenwade has been a huge part of that, leading the way with 21.5 points per game. This week, she scored 18 and 23 in wins over Tempe Corona del Sol and Basha, respectively

Navae Guidry, Gilbert Mesquite

Even though Mesquite fell just short of a marquee win against Gilbert, Guidry dropped 26, leading all scorers. She also had 16 in a win over San Tan Valley Combs and 26 in a win over Gilbert Campo Verde.

Shania Holmes, Phoenix Sierra Linda

Holmes scored 14 in Sierra Linda’s win over Glendale Independence, but her biggest contributions came on the defense end, as she grabbed 10 steals.

Shay Ijiwoye, Phoenix Desert Vista

Ijiwoye showed why she might be the best player in the state this week. She flirted with a quadruple double twice — finishing with 28 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists and seven steals against Corona del Sol and 16 points, nine rebounds, 13 assists and six steals against Queen Creek.

Teagan McIlroy, Phoenix Sunnyslope

McIlroy had big performances in each of Sunnyslope’s two wins. She scored 16 with six steals against Mesa Mountain View and 15 against Mesa Desert Ridge.

Ayla Keefe, Scottsdale Notre Dame Prep

Keefe led the way for Notre Dame Prep in its win over Tucson Catalina Foothills, scoring 18 in the contest.

Nayeli Nidez-Acuna, Tucson Sunnyside

Nidez-Acuña hit the 1,000-point mark for her career in epic fashion, scoring 24 points and grabbing 24 rebounds in Sunnyside’s win over Tucson Pueblo. The Blue Devils moved to 11-1 on the season with a 2-0 week.

Jazlyn Nosie, Whiteriver Alchesay

The Round Valley Shootout was huge for Alchesay, which beat previously-undefeated Pima to win the tournament. Nosie was named the tournament MVP and scored 26 in the championship game.

Ava Pautz, Scottsdale Notre Dame Prep

Pautz led Notre Dame Prep with 26 points in its blowout win over Peoria Centennial, earning her second straight top players of week nod. She then followed that with 22 points in a win over Scottsdale Chaparral on Friday.

Akasha Prpich, Peoria Centennial

The loss to Notre Dame Prep was disappointing but it hasn’t been all bad of late for Centennial. The Coyotes have knocked off Laveen Betty H. Fairfax and Phoenix Paradise Valley over the past week. Prpich scored 27 and 14 in those two wins, leading Centennial in both.

Kylie Rarrick, Phoenix Sunnyslope

Even at 7-3, Sunnyslope’s best performance of the season might have been in a loss this week, as it pushed Perry before falling, 63-54. Rarrick had a big game in the defeat, leading the way with 18.

Senna Smith, Glendale Prep

Smith had a big game as Glendale Prep continued its undefeated season in a win over Veritas Prep on Monday. She had 19 points and 15 rebounds in the contest.

Kayla Tuakalau, Tucson Amphitheater

The sophomore Tuakalau is leading 12-3 Amphitheater in points and rebounds, averaging a double-double. In a win over Safford on Tuesday, she finished with 17 points and 17 rebounds.

Jada Wilson, Surprise Valley Vista

Wilson led Valley Vista with 17 points in a thrilling, 78-76, loss to Goodyear Millennium. She’s also hit double digit rebounds in five of her last six games.

Raquel Wilson, Show Low

Wilson is averaging 16.1 points per game in Show Low’s 16-0 start. The junior star scored 19 in an impressive win over reigning 4A champions Flagstaff on Saturday.

Alaysia White, Coolidge

White helped end Payson’s undefeated season in explosive fashion on Saturday, recording a triple-double. She had 15 points, 13 rebounds and 10 steals in the win. Against Tucson Pueblo, she had with 21 points, 16 rebounds and eight steals.

Lamaiya Woodberry, Tempe McClintock

McClintock might have lost Aiyanna Perkins to transfer, but the Chargers have been able to fill the void in large part because of Woodberry. After dropping 29 in a win over Phoenix Metro Tech on Tuesday, she’s averaging 21.8 points on the season.
