Annual 'Banquet in a Field' to be held July 19 in Dickinson

Jul. 15—DICKINSON — The fourth annual "Banquet in a Field: Western Style" will be held Tuesday, July 19 at Ridl Farms, which is located at 11425 34th St SW in Dickinson. The purpose of the annual festivities is to sow the seeds of appreciation for farmers, emphasizing the crucial link between agriculture producers and their consumers in North Dakota's vibrant economy.

This annual tradition is hosted by the Ridl family and the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee. Together the Ridl and Chamber anticipate approximately 150 guests.

Attendees will choose from a variety of menu options with fresh food produced in the Roughrider State, with items including whole wheat capresse pasta salad, tri-tip beef and roasted soybean hummus with pita.

The Ridl family wrangles 900 head of cattle on their feedlot in Stark County and event guests will have a firsthand look at this impressive operation — all while catching some beautiful views of the rugged Western Edge.

Carter Fong, the Chamber's executive director, said he hopes this experience will make people more cognizant of where their food comes from and the hardworking Americans who make it all possible.

"At the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce, we connect business and community, and we reach outside of city limits," Fong

said

in an interview with The Press after last year's event. "Farming and ranching isn't just a business; it's a way of life that often spans generations. We saw that in our hosts, the Ridl Family."

Watford City columnist, mom and country musician

Jesse Veeder

will provide entertainment in the form of live music.

"Jessie has long attributed her love of folk music and songwriting to her musician father and what he was playing on his guitar and his records and tapes while she was growing up. She fell in love with the stories and the people in these songs, their triumphs and failures," Veeder's

states.
