Amarillo High volleyball gets revenge against Odessa Permian with home sweep Tuesday night

The Amarillo High volleyball team defeated Odessa Permian in a home match on Tuesday night. Let's break down what all happened.

How it happened

Amarillo High had little trouble dismantling Permian, winning 25-15, 25-17, 25-16. The Lady Sandies jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the final set after wearing Permian down thanks to dominant performances from Sienna Cavalier (12 kills, two assists and 11 digs), Blair Pennington (32 assists) and Bird Moffitt (11 digs).

What it means

The win moves Amarillo High to 24-5 overall on the season. It was an impressive follow up after losing to Midland High on Friday in five sets. It also marked a revenge of sorts for the Lady Sandies. Last year, their only home loss of the season came against Odessa Permian, so to win at home this season must have felt good heading into district. They'll face Odessa High this Friday before kicking off district play next week.

Amarillo High head coach Mike Moffitt said

"We played really well. We basically scheduled that entire 6A district. We tried to schedule really tough (teams). We had a really tough loss last Friday and bounced back against a quality opponent this week. The kids played great and bounced back really well and handled their business. This was our only home loss last year so it was great for the kids to get out, sweep them today and do an excellent job."
