4-star PF reportedly working on finalizing September official visit to the Iowa Hawkeyes

The Iowa Hawkeyes have been in the mix for one of the nation’s best players for some time.

Iowa offered four-star power forward Pharaoh Compton in May, and the Hawkeyes have been heavily involved since. Now, per Andrew Slater, Compton shares he has been hearing from Iowa, LSU, San Diego State and Maryland.

Compton has an official visit planned to San Diego State on Aug. 23-25 and he is reportedly speaking with Iowa to work out the details of a September official visit to the Hawkeyes. Obviously, it would be terrific news for the black and gold if they can get the elite big on campus for an official visit.

Out of Chandler, Arizona, Compton plays for powerhouse program AZ Compass Prep. Compton is also a member of the Nike EYBL squad Vegas Elite.

The 6-foot-8, 215 pound big has offers from Arizona State, Houston, Kansas State, LSU, Ole Miss, San Diego State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UNLV and Washington State.

Compton is a consensus four-star recruit across the four major recruiting services. Rivals and On3 each rank Compton as the nation’s No. 76 overall player in the 2024 class.

According to Rivals, Compton is the No. 8 power forward in 2024. Meanwhile, On3 regards Compton as the No. 13 power forward and as the No. 4 player from Arizona.

247Sports ranks Compton as the nation’s No. 84 player overall, as the No. 15 power forward and as the No. 6 player in Arizona. Lastly, ESPN rates Compton as the No. 22 power forward and as the No. 1 player from Arizona.

Here’s a look at Compton’s full recruiting profile, his highlights and the rest of the Hawkeyes’ 2024 class.

Iowa has one commit in its 2024 class. Consensus four-star forward Cooper Koch out of Peoria Notre Dame in Illinois is the Hawkeyes’ pledge. ESPN, 247Sports and On3 rank Koch as a top-100 talent.

On3 ranks Koch the highest as the nation’s No. 89 player in the 2024 class, as the No. 17 power forward and as the No. 2 player from Illinois.

Iowa is also trending positively in the recruitment of four-star wing Caden Diggs. The Hawkeyes have a pair of 247Sports crystal ball predictions for Diggs to land with the Hawkeyes.
