These 15 Greater Lansing high school baseball players were named to MHSBCA all-state teams

Pewamo-Westphalia was the lone baseball team from Greater Lansing to make it to the final stages of the state tournament.

And senior outfielder Tanner Wirth was one of the key components as the Pirates made their second state semifinal appearance in Division 3 in four years.

Wirth was recognized on Monday by the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association and was named a repeat first team all-state selection in Division 3. Wirth was named all-state for the third time and is among a group of 15 area players honored.

Joining Wirth as all-state selections in Division 3 from P-W were Brock Thelen and Drew Nurenberg. Thelen was also a first-team selection, while Nurenberg was named to the second team.

Holt and Portland St. Patrick, who each won district titles, joined P-W with multiple players being named all-state. Ayden VanEnkevort and Evan Mendoza were second team all-state players in Division 1 for Holt. Both also were participants in Monday's MHSBCA senior all-star games.

In Division 4, senior Shane Cook was a first team selection and freshman Brayden Simon earned second team accolades for Portland St. Patrick.

Mason’s Talon Rowe was a second team all-state in Division 1. Second team all-state selections in Division 2 included Olivet junior Ramsey Bousseau, Portland senior Trent Trierweiler and St. Johns senior Alex Owen.

Also honored in Division 3 along with the P-W players were Laingsburg’s Ty Randall and Ithaca’s Ethan Hull, who earned second team honors.

Dansville freshman Wyatt Mosley and Fowler senior Chase Pung were second team all-state selections in Division 4.
