Maybe
this was presumptuous and pessimistic of me, but when I first saw the headline
about Lawrence
Taylor being arrested, I kind of assumed it was for some horrible,
drug-related crime. Something that would make me read the article and say,
"Aw, come on, Lawrence," and then shake my head and say a little
prayer for humanity.
Not necessary, as it turns out. Taylor was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, and guess what? He was completely sober! Cops didn't even feel the need to perform a sobriety test. L.T. was cooperative, coherent and very very sane.
I'm not saying the incident was nothing. It's still a level or two above jaywalking. According to TMZ, police believe that Taylor's car hit another car, and then hit a guard rail (Taylor told investigators only that he'd hit a guard rail), and Taylor proceeded to drive several miles away from the scene, sans front tire. Police found him several miles away, standing in front of his three-tired car.
TMZ says that no one was injured. That, combined with Taylor's sobriety, (given his history), leads me to put this one in the category of "good news."

The posts declaring that it is "doubtful" he was sober and will never be are equally baseless and out of line. Why they are not deleted is beyond me.

ec_anarchy, you are clueless. Yeah, he's moved on alright. How can you possibly look at his bloodshot eyes and think he's perfectly sober? Fool!
