Tigers activate Avila
The Detroit Tigers activated catcher Alex Avila from the 15-day disabled list after Monday's loss to Toronto.
Avila had been out with a left forearm contusion that he suffered when he was hit by a pitch.
Avila, 26, is hitting .222 with 14 home runs this season.
Catcher Bryan Holaday was sent to Triple-A Toledo to make room on the roster for Avila.
