Rodriguez apologizes after arrest

Two days after Chicago Bears tight end Evan Rodriguez was ticketed for driving under the influence, speeding and improper lane usage, he issued an apology through the team on Sunday.

"I am deeply sorry for the incident that occurred the other night," the statement read. "I want to apologize to the entire Bears organization, my teammates, coaches and Bears fans everywhere. I realize that I made a very poor decision.

"I know that more is expected of me and that I let a lot of people down that are counting on me. I will make positive changes in my life so that this doesn't happen again."

Rodriguez was pulled over on I-90 at Hubbard at about 3:30 a.m., according to an Illinois State Police report.

Rodriguez was arrested in March for resisting a police officer in Miami. The charges were later dropped.

The 2012 fourth-round drafp pick has four career catches for 21 yards.
