Robin Lopez got tickled with a feather on a bed by Mariah Carey in Las Vegas

With all due respect to Kevin Seraphin, I think we can agree that in this summer’s competition for Best Job of Laying Down by a Former New York Knicks Big Man, Robin Lopez is the runaway winner. You can keep your 150 feet of snakes, Kevin. RoLo far prefers the comfort of a luxurious bed in Las Vegas, being serenaded, blindfolded and feather-tickled by Mariah bleeping Carey:

Making matters even better: Lopez’s girlfriend, Christine Vargas, seems completely cool with the whole thing.

“Can’t believe Robin got to be on stage with @mariahcarey !!!!!” she wrote in the caption of her Instagram video depicting Carey and Lopez getting up close and personal during the performance of “Touch My Body,” with Robin evidently playing the role of a 7-foot and suited Jack McBrayer, at a recent concert at The Colosseum at Ceasars Palace. “Best concert ever!!”

The caption also featured hashtags informing readers that “Mariah can serenade my boyfriend any day,” “I died,” “She is everything,” “I can’t,” and “He kissed her hand” … which the new starting Chicago Bulls pivot confirmed via Twitter:

While we’re sure Chris Martin and the gang are eagerly awaiting their opportunity to get their hands smooched by one of the NBA’s most recognizable hairsmen/most unsung screen-setters and interior defenders, you might be arching an eyebrow at the suggestion that the veteran bruiser is a “nervous fangirl” for Mariah’s musical stylings. The clips, however, tell no lies. From a June 2008 story in the East Valley Tribune of Mesa, Ariz. (emphasis mine):

[Twins Brook Lopez and Robin Lopez] have played on the same basketball team since the second grade. They collaborate on movie screenplay attempts and comic book story lines (Brook is the writer, Robin is the artist). They share similar, eclectic tastes in music — Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey top the list — and a fanatical love of Walt Disney memorabilia and trivia.

… and from a September 2008 story in HOOP Magazine:

HOOP: How did you guys become such big Michael Jackson fans?

Brook: Michael was big in the ’80s, so that came from our brothers right there.

Robin: Like any other good artist; they’re just really great songs. Some of them are kind of heavy, but a lot are just fun, like Mariah Carey songs.

HOOP: What would it mean for you to be able to meet some of these stars, like a Michael or Mariah, that you’ve looked up to?

Robin: That would be fantastic. If I met Mariah, I’d ask her if she wants to collaborate on anything, but I don’t know if I’ve really got the voice.

Assuming Mariah’s already heard Robin rip up “P.Y.T (Pretty Young Thing),” the collabo’s almost certainly on deck. If things don’t work out, though, at least Robin already got his moment with the glamorous and fabulous Mimi. If he looks a little extra happy when the Bulls open training camp later this month, we’ll know why.
