Report: Kings' Cousins, Evans won't play at Portland

Center DeMarcus Cousins is back on the Sacramento Kings' roster, but that doesn't mean he's out of coach Keith Smart's doghouse.

Cousins, reinstated from a suspension Monday, did not travel with the team to Wednesday's game in Portland against the Trail Blazers, the Sacramento Bee's Jason Jones reported.

The Bee also reported that Kings guard Tyreke Evans skipped the trip due to a sore left knee.

During the Kings' loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday, Cousins and Smart had a halftime altercation, with the center reportedly screaming at the coach. Cousins didn't play in the second half, and the team announced that next day that he was indefinitely suspended.

Cousins sat out one game, a 108-96 win over Portland on Sunday, before he was added back to the active roster. However, the Bee reported that Cousins was invited back to practice, though that didn't mean he'd automatically rejoin the playing rotation.

In his third year out of Kentucky, Cousins is averaging 16.6 points and 9.5 rebounds through 23 games this season.

Evans will sit out for the 10th time in 14 games due to his knee injury. He is averaging 15.1 points, 3.3 assists and 4.8 rebounds through 18 games.
