Feb 8 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Sunday's National Hockey League games: - - - Islanders 8, Oilers 1 Kyle Okposo scored a hat-trick Sunday afternoon as the New York Islanders routed the Edmonton Oilers 8-1 at Barclays Center. Five other players -- Johnny Boychuk, John Tavares, Nikolay Kulemin, Josh Bailey and Cal Clutterbuck -- all scored a goal apiece for the Islanders. The eight goals were the most for New York since it beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 9-3 on Feb. 11, 2011. Islanders goalie Thomas Greiss made 30 saves. - - - Canadiens 2, Hurricanes 1 (shootout) Sven Andrighetto scored the shootout winner to give Montreal a win over Carolina at the Bell Centre. Jeff Skinner scored in regulation for the Hurricanes and Max Pacioretty replied for the Canadiens. Ben Scrivens, making his second start in as many days, stopped 34 shots for Montreal. Counterpart Cam Ward made 33 saves for the Hurricanes. - - - Capitals 3, Flyers 2 Matt Niskanen went coast-to-coast for the go-ahead goal, Alex Ovechkin notched his 30th of the season and Washington defeated Philadelphia for its third straight win.
