Dan Wetzel's Week 7 College Football Podcast: All eyes on the Lone Star State

With the Red River Shootout on deck Saturday, the Dan Wetzel College Football Podcast welcomes Chip Brown of OrangeBloods.com and 104.9 The Horn in Austin to break it all down. Chip’s covered UT for 21 years, including previous stints at the Dallas Morning News and the Associated Press. He was also the driving forced in the conference realignment coverage.

The discussion centers around what happened to the Longhorns and how Mack Brown was so haunted by the 2009 BCS title game loss to Alabama he changed the program’s philosophy, especially opposed to how Bob Stoops at Oklahoma has stayed the course. There is also a breakdown of Longhorn recruiting failures and misguided strategies, including how Andrew Luck showed up at junior day and still couldn’t get an offer.
Later the talk moves on to how the in-state landscape has been altered with competitive programs and excellent coaches in place at A&M, TCU, Baylor and Tech.
There is a special amount of time discussing how Art Briles has turned the Bears into one of the coolest teams in the country and what Baylor’s chances are of running the table this year … they're pretty decent.
There is also some A&M talk before three games are picked: Oklahoma vs. Texas (plus 14), Florida at LSU (minus 7) and Oregon at Washington (plus 14).
