Hawks nearing resolution on coach search

Atlanta Hawks officials will hold a conference call on Friday with hopes of determining who should be offered the franchise’s coaching job, sources with knowledge of the search told Yahoo! Sports.

Sources say there is division within the team’s ownership over which of three finalists – Dallas Mavericks assistant Dwane Casey, Hawks assistant Larry Drew or TV broadcaster Mark Jackson – should receive the offer. While one source ultimately believes the decision will come down to either Casey or Drew, there is still enough debate among team officials on all three candidates to warrant the conference call.

The team hopes to extend an offer by the end of the weekend and possibly as early as Friday. If the Hawks’ ownership group can’t reach agreement on who should receive the offer, the team might expand its search next week to a fourth candidate.
