With Triston Casas out for awhile, Garrett Cooper has been told by the Red Sox that he's going to play . . . a lot

“He said I'm going to play a lot,” Cooper said prior to Tuesday's series opener against the Giants at Fenway Park. At the time he was designated for assignment by the Cubs, Cooper was hitting a respectable .270/.341/.432 with a homer. Cooper said he feels good about where his swing is, in part because he began working with a new hitting coach in the offseason. “I felt like I started the year off well, and I hit well in the spring,” said Cooper.
