Antonio Valencia's eye swells shut, plays on anyway

A clash of heads with Olympiacos' Joel Campbell left Manchester United's Antonio Valencia with a rapidly swelling brow early in their Champions League round of 16 second leg. Despite the knock limiting his ability to see properly, Valencia played on.

Even Man United's physio seemed unnerved by the state of Valencia's face, though...

With Valencia still out there, Man United pulled a goal back with a penalty kick from Robin van Persie in the 25th minute to put the aggregate score at 2-1, still in Olympiacos' favor.

UPDATE: Van Persie added a second just before halftime. Valencia's eye is almost certainly what's driving them.

UPDATE II: And Van Persie completed his hat trick with a free kick in the 51st minute. Valencia still playing. High-fiving is difficult, though.

UPDATE III: Valencia was finally substituted for Ashley Young (who was warming up to come on for him all the way back in the first half) in the 77th minute with Man United up 3-0 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate.
