• Hokey smokes, Pittsburgh Penguins fans and writers were steamed about that Garriochian masterpiece that had Evgeni Malkin headed to the Los Angeles Kings. Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette called Bruce Garrioch "a gas bag" who is as "‘inside' as our patio furniture." Ouch! More dumbfounded reaction from The Sidney Crosby Show, the boys at The Pensblog, and The Big K.

• There's also a bit of outrage from the San Jose Sharks, who have heard enough about pending UFA defenseman Brian Campbell allegedly deciding he's going to leave for another city. Dan Rusanowsky of the awesomely named Seagate Technology Broadcasters Blog writes that GM Doug Wilson clarified the rumor, saying the negotiations were ongoing with Campbell. Meanwhile, Patrick Marleau may be staying in the Tank after all.

• Bryan McCabe will not waive his no-trade clause for the Toronto Maple Leafs according to his agent, who said: "Bryan has logged more minutes than any other Leafs player in the past seven years." Wow, even his own agent can't avoid putting Bryan McCabe and "log" in the same sentence. Meanwhile, we're seriously starting to wonder about the validity of some of these "rumors."

• TSN reported late last night that John Anderson had been hired by the Atlanta Thrashers as their new head coach. If so, then Big Shooter at The Blueland Chronicle is pretty darn happy. Bit of a pisser for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which quoted GM Don Waddell as laughing at the notion that a coach would be hired before the draft. Fibber.

• The Star-Tribune's Michael Russo reports that the Minnesota Wild are hot for Olli Jokinen, but that the asking price from the Florida Panthers is a tad too high. Bottom line: The Olli Era is over in Florida.

• Is the agent for Henrik Sedin and Daniel Sendin putting out information that they're on the block? Alanah from Canucks and Beyond has her suspicions.

• Finally, Sportsnet reported last night that the Philadelphia Flyers had inked Jeff Carter to a three-year deal that would prevent the offer sheet poaching to begin in July. We're no experts, but we think this new contract is seriously going to put his trade to the Vancouver Canucks in jeopardy.
