Texas A&M LB Darian Claiborne suspended for Chick-Fil-A Bowl after drug possession arrest

Texas A&M freshman Darian Claiborne will miss the Chick-Fil-A Bowl against Duke after he was arrested Sunday on drug possession charges.

He was arrested Sunday on charges of possession of a dangerous drug and possession of less than two ounces of marijuana. After his arrest, A&M announced that he was suspended and would not travel with the team to the game in Atlanta on New Year's Eve.

Claiborne was a bright spot on a porous Aggie defense this year. He started at middle linebacker and recorded 89 tackles while being named to the SEC all-freshman team.

He wasn't the only Texas college player suspended for a bowl game on Sunday either. Texas announced that Daje Johnson would miss the Alamo Bowl against Oregon along with tackle Kennedy Estelle and running back Jalen Overstreet after being academically ineligible.

Johnson was also suspended for the Longhorns' Thanksgiving day game against Texas Tech. He has 140 yards rushing and 178 yards receiving and a punt return touchdown.
