Video: John Wall’s All-Star Weekend dunk curse continues

It's a tough weekend for John Wall. First, Detroit Pistons sophomore Greg Monroe scuttles his late-game alley-oop in Friday night's Rising Stars Challenge, taking the bloom off the rose that was his super-cool behind-the-back slam. Now, facing elimination from the Taco Bell Skills Challenge of the 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend's Saturday Night festivities, his attempt to throw an off-the-backboard alley-oop to himself goes very, very wrong.

And when it's all said and done, he has to go back to the Washington Wizards and resume playing alongside this, which is basically like realizing in the middle of a Sunday hangover that you have a morning full of boring, awful meetings waiting for you not only on Monday, but also every day thereafter for the rest of your life.

Sorry, John. We here at BDL sincerely hope that your All-Star Weekend curse will be lifted some day.

Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs won the Skills Challenge on Saturday night, running the dribbling/passing/shooting gauntlet through an elaborate "Double Dare"-style obstacle course in a time of 32.8 seconds. Parker beat Rajon Rondo of the Boston Celtics and Deron Williams of the New Jersey Nets in the final round. Wall finished fourth.

Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Rising Stars Challenge MVP Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers were eliminated in the first round. They will now live bearing unfathomable shame for the rest of their lives.

Not "facing elimination". He was already eliminated, his time was beyond the qualifying time so...

Just a dumb article. Nothing is serious at All-star weekend. So what Greg Monroe stole his pass. I thought it was more funny than embarassing. He was already eliminated from the skills contest so why not try the off the backboard dunk attempt. Give the guy a break. He plays for Washington, for goodness sake.

Stop riding Wall so hard he is a talented young man even the greats make mistakes...in my opinion his dunks that he made were the highlights of the BBVA game.

John Wall is only a MVP in his own mind. And they say Lin is over rated ! Lin ran circle around Wall in the summer league and continue to do so. He flexed and showboated at the All Star events but still fell short. Booohooo

if you seriously think Lin is even half as good as Jwall, you know nothing about basketball

I know John Wall has done very little to prove he was worth such a high pick. And I know that, right now, even though I hate the Knicks, I would probably take Lin instead of Wall. All we ever heard of Wall was how fast he could get from point a to point b. Great. So he is fast. So is Ussain Bolt, I don't want him running my team either.

Is it true that John Wall temporarily lowers the average population IQ of every city he currently visits?

Love John Wall. He had the two sickest dunks of the entire weekend during the Rook/Soph game. Would love to see him vs. LeBron vs. Dwight vs. Blake. Maybe throw Westbrook in there. Best dunk contest ever.
