Zion Williamson cleared to play for New Orleans Pelicans vs. Los Angeles Lakers on Friday

After missing Wednesday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers due to health and safety protocols, Zion Williamson has been cleared to play for the Pelicans on Friday against the Lakers.

Williamson was a late scratch for the Pelicans hours before New Orleans met the Clippers in Staples Center. Head coach Stan Van Gundy clarified that Williamson had inconclusive results and due to the timing of that test, he was held out of Wednesday’s game as a precaution.

However, with a number of negative results coming back by Thursday, he was cleared to return to the court.

Williamson will provide a boost to the Pelicans, who were down three starters against the Clippers. Nickeil Alexander-Walker, in his first start of the season, poured in 37 points in a career-best performance, though it was not enough as the Clippers won 111-106.
