Why isn’t Liverpool vs Luton Premier League game live on TV in UK?

Liverpool take on Luton tonight looking to boost their advantage over Manchester City in a thrilling Premier League title race.

Manchester City‘s 1-0 home win over Brentford on Tuesday evening means that a win for Liverpool tonight would see them open up a four-point gap at the top of the table.

However, Liverpool vs Luton will not be shown live on TV in the UK. The game has been brought forward to tonight having originally been scheduled for the weekend.

But with Liverpool in action in the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday, the Luton fixture had to be moved and today was the best date possible.

But why isn’t it on UK? As it was never picked for live TV coverage, a rule dictates that it cannot retrospectively be chosen. Instead, Sky Sports are showing the EFL Trophy clash between Bradford and Wycombe, while TNT Sports have Champions League action, including Arsenal’s trip to Porto.

However, there are other ways to follow what is a crucial match.

In the UK, highlights will be available on Sky Sports Premier League later tonight, starting at 10:30pm GMT and running for 30 minutes. Sky Sports subscribers will be able to watch those on a live stream online via the Sky Go app.

You can also still follow the action LIVE tonight with Standard Sport’s dedicated match blog.
