Where Tyler Hansbrough ranks on ESPN’s top 25 players list

This summer, ESPN is releasing an online series for college basketball titled “25 in 25,” looking back at the last 25 years in the game. For the first installment, the website put together its list of the top 25 players in the past 25 years.

The list is filled with legendary players who left their imprint on the game, including a former North Carolina star.

Tyler Hansbrough cracked the top 10 on the list, checking in at No. 6:

Career stats: 20.2 PPG, 8.6 RPG
Career highlights: National championship (2009), Wooden Award (2008), first team AP All-American (2008, 2009), ACC Player of the Year (2008), all-ACC first team (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009)

North Carolina has a long list of elite players, but few can match what Hansbrough — who earned a spot on the AP first, second or third teams each year of his collegiate career — did. Hansbrough was one of the most consistent players in recent college basketball history, as proved by four consecutive seasons in which he averaged at least 18 PPG and 7 RPG.

Hansbrough was the lone Tar Heel to make the top 25 and was slotted behind No. 1 Kevin Durant, No. 2 Anthony Davis, No. 3 Zion Williamson, No. 4 Jay Williams and No. 5 Stephen Curry.

Personally, we believe Hansbrough should be way higher on this list and probably top three if we are being honest. The accomplishments speak for themselves.
