Where LSU is heading in ESPN’s bowl projections after Week 3 win over Mississippi State

If you counted LSU out of the College Football Playoff race after a Week 1 loss to Florida State, that may have been a bit premature.

The Tigers made it clear that they are very much still a threat in the SEC after a convincing 41-14 road win against Mississippi State to kick off conference play. That wasn’t enough to move into the CFP in ESPN’s bowl projections after Week 3, but Mark Schlabach does have the Tigers cracking the New Year’s Six field.

He has LSU heading to Atlanta to take on Penn State in the Peach Bowl. Kyle Bonagura, meanwhile, is less optimistic. He has the Tigers facing off against Wisconsin the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa.

It would likely take a few more wins for LSU to seriously break back into the playoff discussion with a loss, but upcoming games against Arkansas, Ole Miss and Auburn will certainly provide opportunities for further statements.
