Weekend Roundup: JG girls track falls short of Kasper Invite title

Track

John Glenn girls fall shy of Kasper Invite title: The Muskies tallied 114.5 points finishing second to Dover, which had 115, in the 15-team Joe Kasper Invitational at Meadowbrook.

The Cambridge girls were fourth (56.5), Meadowbrook fifth (48) and Buckeye Trail 14th (7), while the Buckeye Trail boys took fourth (65), Cambridge fifth (45), John Glenn 11th (30) and Meadowbrook 12th (24).

Riley Zamensky, Faith Saxton, Becca Spohn and Charlie Ford won the 4x200-meter relay in 1 minute, 53.34 seconds; Ava Hoffman claimed the high jump with a height of 5-feet-2 with Zamensky in second (5-0); Brayden Snider placed first in the pole vault (11-0) with Brooklyn Valentine tying for fourth (9-0); Saxton, Jessica Church, Spohn and Brea Wilfong took second in the 4x400 (4:21.71), Kira Kaiser, Breonna Cosgrove, Alaina Sigman and Laurie Baughman came in second in the 4x800 (11:06), Church placed second in the 100 (12.92), Church (1:00.22) and Saxton (1:03.66) went second and third in the 400, Ashlynn Kuklica was second in the 800 (2:26.35), Hoffman was third in the long jump (15-6), Teegan Walrath was fourth in the 100 hurdles, and the 4x100 relay of Hoffman, Zamensky, Mya Warner and Snider finished fourth (53.69) to lead the John Glenn girls.

Zoey Caldwell won the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles (49.59) and long jump (16-2) to pace the Lady Bobcats, while Caldwell, Sophie Ward, Mya Alexander and Audrina Gibson placed fourth in the 4x200 (1:56.14) and Madie Beadle was fourth in the high jump (4-8).

Taylor Forbes, Marabelle Thornberry, Grace Kackley and Karrah Singleton won the 4x800 relay (10:47.39) to lead the Lady Colts, while Singleton placed second (12:24) and Forbes third (12:32) in the 3,200. Catherine Stoney came in second in the 100 hurdles, and Avery Black was fourth in the long jump (15-3 3/4).

Mason Todd, Charlie Parry, Koen Eagon and Donovan Geiger won the 4x200 in 1:33.14 and were second in the 4x100 (45.03) to pace the Warrior boys, while Janson Alloway claimed the pole vault (12-6). Todd (23.26) and Geiger (23.27) placed second and third in the 200, and Eagon placed third in the 300 hurdles (43.07).

Reed Johnson won the 200 (23.17), Bryson Anderson took second in the high jump (5-10); Levi Walker, Eli Edwards, Cinjin Gibson and Johnson placed third in the 4x400 (3:42.03), Gibson was third in the pole vault (11-0); Edwards came in fourth in the 100 (11.67) and long jump (19-8); and Trashaun Shaver, Edwards, Gibson and Johnson were fourth in the 4x100 (45.76) for the Cambridge boys.

Alex Smith placed second in the pole vault (12-0) and Caiden Lake, Ian Davis, Kaid Ritchey and Ethan Zell were third in the 4x800 (8:50) to lead the John Glenn boys, while Carter Watson, Noah Farley, Bentley Sedor and Jamarcus Berger were fourth in the 4x200 (1:38.13) for the Meadowbrook boys.

Philo, Morgan compete at Rocky Brands Invite: The Electrics and Raiders track teams competed in the Rocky Brands Invitational at Nelsonville-York.

The Philo girls were seventh (43) and Morgan 10th (7), while the Electric boys were eighth (29) and Raiders 10th (22) in the Big School competition.

Aubree Delong, Emily Stockdale, Makenna Staker and Halli Harris won the 4x200 relay in a meet record time of 1:51.22, Delong placed second in the 100 hurdles (16.98), Harris was fourth in the 200 (27.95), Staker took fourth in the 400 (1:05.74) and the 4x100 relay of Sara Searls, Delong, Staker and Stockdale finished fourth (54.56) for the Electric girls, while Aidan Mahon took second in the long jump (20-1 1/2) and fourth in the 200 (23.17) and 400 (51.75) and Deacon Scott came in fourth in the 110 hurdles (16.63) for the boys.

Kyle Campbell came in third in the 100 (11.46) and joined Adam Cooper, Braylon Miller and Hayden Bankes on the third-place 4x100 relay (45.07) for the Morgan boys, while Aleah Bogue was sixth in the 200 (28.24) and ran with Gianna Myers, Maya Davis and Ava Davis for sixth in the 4x400 (4:33) for the girls.

West Muskingum takes part in Newark Invite: The Tornado boys finished 11th (15) and the girls ninth (9) at Newark.

Lane Kennedy placed third in the 100 (11.65) and sixth in the 200 (23.64) and the 4x100 relay came in fourth (45.47) for the West M boys, and Molly Spiker took second in the long jump (15-5) for the girls.

Baseball

Sheridan 6, Berne Union 5: Coyle Withrow singled and drove in four runs as the Generals totaled 10 hits and held off a Rockets rally for a win at Beavers Field.

Monty Eden added a double, a single and three runs scored, Bryson Ruff hit a double and a single and Noah Wamer and Ryan Kuhn each singled with a RBI for the Sheridan offense.

Brody White allowed two runs on four hits, struck out four and walked five in five innings to earn the win.

Friday's results

Baseball

West Muskingum 9, Philo 4: Jake Anton went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Alston Williamson also singled with two RBIs as the Tornadoes (3-1) had 13 hits in a non-league win.

Cale McGreevy singled twice and scored twice, Sam Wiseman hit a double and a single and Cam Fowler and Wes Houston also doubled for West M, which used a four-run second inning to take the lead for good.

Ashton Ansel earned the win, giving up two runs on four hits with three strikeouts and two walks in five innings.

Josh Gooden went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs, and Eli Roush also homered to lead the Electrics (1-1-1).

Cambridge 6, Meadowbrook 0: Winning pitcher Mason Gregg tossed a two-hitter with five strikeouts as the Bobcats topped the Colts.

Keaton Kyser collected two doubles, a single and two RBIs to pace the Cambridge offense, while Coen Stoner also singled with two RBIs and Regan Rogers and Bradyn Gregg had a single and a RBI apiece.

Gunner Davis took the loss after allowing three runs on six hits in four innings. He had six strikeouts and four walks, while Cohen Miles had both hits for Meadowbrook.

Softball

Tri-Valley 13, Licking Valley 7: The visiting Scotties (3-1) pounded out 16 hits and made a seven-run second inning stand up against the Panthers.

Kylan Brock had three hits and three RBIs, Ally Peterson chipped in three hits with two RBIs and two runs scored, Caity Journey hit a triple and two singles with a pair of runs scored, Paiton Murphy doubled and singled with three RBIs, Cydnee Wolford chipped in two singles and three runs scored and A Reffitt tripled to pace the Tri-Valley offense.

Murphy also picked up the complete game win, giving up seven runs on 13 hits with nine strikeouts and no walks.
