How to watch the NFL combine: Friday, March 1

After a big day at the NFL combine by former Penn State players Chop Robinson, Adisa Isaac, and Curtis Jacobs, the fun continues on Friday as the NFL combine sees the defensive backs and tight ends hit the field for combine drills. And once again, it should be a busy day for Penn State Nittany Lions at the combine.

Penn State will have four more players getting on the combine field today with cornerbacks Kalen King, Johnny Dixon, and Daequan Hardy competing against the nation’s top defensive backs for the best 40-yard dash times and more. Tight end Theo Johnson will also be on the field looking to improve his draft outlook. Yesterday’s defensive ends and linebackers will complete their workouts as well with the bench press, should they choose to participate.

Here is everything you need to know about the NFL combine for today and what to watch from the former Penn State players in attendance for the day’s workouts.

The NFL combine will be important for former Penn State cornerback Johnny Dixon. Dixon had to pull out of the Senior Bowl early due to an injury concern that sprung up during the week of practices, so the hope is he is fully recovered and ready to show what he can do at the combine. The injury was reportedly nothing too concerning but it made sense to be cautious and not make it any worse during the Senior Bowl week.

Daequan Hardy is coming off a solid showing at this year’s East-West Shrine Bowl, where his speed was noticed by scouts taking notes during the all-star game week. Hardy’s speed certainly came in handy for Penn State on special teams last season with a couple of punt return touchdowns

Penn State’s Kalen King may be the Nittany Lion in most need of a big showing at the combine. Once projected by some as a first-round caliber cornerback, and perhaps viewed as the top cornerback in the draft pool, King is coming off a tougher showing at the Senior Bowl than he would prefer to have on his plate right now. King apparently has some ground to make up for being considered a first-round player again if it is not too late.

Theo Johnson, TE

Theo Johnson is coming off a good showing at the Senior Bowl and continues to be a prospect seemingly on the rise at the right time. Johnson can continue to move up the big boards with a good showing at the combine.
