Walker Cup captain will visit Peoria as part of River Cup charity event

Top amateur golfer and USA Walker Cup captain Mike McCoy will visit Peoria later this year as part of a benefit dinner for the River Cup Foundation, a not-for-profit directed by volunteers that raises money for children's charities and promotes golf in the Peoria area.

McCoy, 60, is an insurance executive who won the 2013 United States Mid-Amateur championship at age 50 — the second-oldest champ in that event's history. He is scheduled to speak as a guest of the RCF on Nov. 12 at Mount Hawley Country Club in Peoria.

The social hour begins at 6 p.m. and the event runs to 9:15 p.m. Tables of eight are $800 and include hors d'oeuvres, non-alcoholic beverages and dinner. There will be a cash bar and a silent auction.

Proceeds benefit the OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois and junior golf in central Illinois. For more information or to reserve a table, visit rivercup.com or call Matt Fahel at (309) 369-9247.
