According to the readers of the Enquirer, the B.O.B. — the Best Of Battle Creek among pitchers — is Caleb Jones of Battle Creek Central in baseball and Isabella Strader of Olivet in softball. Calvin Paesens of Pennfield and Kaylynn Jones of BCC were each second in their respective sports.

Why he is the best pitcher in the Battle Creek area: A two-year starter for the Bearcats, Caleb Jones is a do-everything player for a young Battle Creek Central team in need of senior leadership. Jones is the team's top pitcher, as well as a standout centerfielder who also leads the squad in batting average.

School: Olivet

Class: Senior

Why she is the best pitcher in the Battle Creek area: A four-year starter, Isabella Strader was all-league and all-district a year ago with a 20-10 record and 230 strikeouts. At the plate, she helps her team by batting in the No. 4 hole, hitting .566 a year ago with 51 RBI and 10 home runs.
