See who readers picked as the Winter Sports Athlete of the Week in this open poll
There was a lot of basketball action over the winter break at holiday tournaments throughout the area.
Basketball season is in full swing, and wrestling is also going strong. There were a number of impressive individual performances last week and Savannah Morning News readers weighed in to select the Winter Sports Athlete of the Week, in and open poll with no restrictions on the voting.
Calvary Day's Chipper Creager, a senior heavyweight wrestler, was the winner with 51.08% of the vote. Creager won the championship at the Holy Innocents Invitational, where he was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler in the tournament. He has a record of 34-4 on the season.
Jamir Stevens of the Woodville-Tompkins basketball team was second with 35.78% of the vote, while Parris Parham of the Bradwell girls basketball team finished third.

Chipper Creager, Calvary Day
The senior heavyweight wrestler won the tournament championship at the Holy Innocents Invitational, a competition featuring 42 teams, and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler.
Tahshaun Frasier, Bradwell Institute
The senior guard scored 24 points with eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals in a triple overtime win over Woodville-Tompkins Friday and scored 15, reaching the 1,000 point milestone for his career, in a win over Griffin Thursday, for a Tiger squad that is 14-0 on the season.
Caleb Jones, Benedictine
The junior had 27 points and six rebounds in a win over Hilton Head Island on Thursday.
Zayden Edwards, St. Andrew's
The junior had 24 points, nine rebounds and three assists in a win over Mt. Bethel Christian.
Parris Parham, Bradwell Institute
The junior had 21 points, nine rebounds, four steals and two assists in a win over Woodville-Tompkins. She is averaging 20.0 points, 9.2 rebounds, three steals and 2.4 assists for the Tigers, who are 13-1 on the year.
Ashton Wright, Bethesda
The senior guard was named the MVP of the Colleton Prep Classic after the Blazers beat Florence Christian, Orangeburg Prep and Charleston Collegiate to win the tournament title.
Ashanti Brown, Bryan County
The junior had 18 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in a win over Montgomery on Saturday for Bryan County (9-2)
Destini Gooddine, Calvary Day
The junior had 21 points and eight rebounds in a loss to North Oconee Saturday.
Jamir Stevens, Woodville-Tompkins
The senior scored 20 points and drained a shot from half court to force a third overtime in the loss at Bradwell Institute for a Wolverine squad that is 12-2 on the season.
Jermaine Edwards, Savannah High
The senior had 15 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks in a win over Mitchell County.
Josh Quarterman, Johnson
The senior had 23 points, six steals, four rebounds and three assists in a win over Rocky River of North Carolina.
Will Thompson, St. Andrew's
The senior had 27 points, six rebounds and three assists in the win over Mt. Bethel.
