Record Athlete of the Week: Ripon's Katie Martin

The votes are in and the Record/Recordnet.com Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 15-21 is Katie Martin of Ripon girls' golf. In an online poll that closed on Friday, Martin received over 50% of the votes cast for a total of 640 votes.

Martin earned this recognition following her stellar performance at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division V championship meet last week. The golfer finished with a score of 91, the closest to par from anyone on the Indians squad. She ended the meet in fifth place over a hundred other golfers thus punching her ticket to the SJS Masters.

Along with her own accolades from the meet, Martin helped her team win the SJS Division V runner-up award behind Argonaut. Ripon was just three points shy of claiming the blue banner. Martin and her fellow qualifying teammate Aaliyah Martinez, will be gearing up for the big stage at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton for the Masters on Oct. 30.
