The polls are open!

It's time to vote for the Volusia-Flagler Athlete of the Week for the week of March 25-30. Athletes for all in-season sports are eligible.

Last week, Flagler Palm Coast softball player Alexis Laura took home the honors, claiming 60% of the votes.

The News-Journal gathers nominees from scores and stats emailed to the sports desk during the week by coaches across the area. Coaches can email nominees to cvinel@gannett.com.

Voting will close at 5 p.m. Thursday. Votes are restricted to once per device per hour.

Baseball

Lucas Badalato, Spruce Creek: In four at-bats during a win over Flanagan, the junior singled, doubled and homered, driving in six runs.

JJ Robles, Deltona: The senior went 3-for-3 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored during a shutout of Florida Christian.

Lacrosse

Vincent Ferrugiaro, Matanzas: The sophomore scored six goals in a 10-4 win over Father Lopez.

Alana Throne, Flagler Palm Coast: The junior recorded a team-best eight goals across victories over Atlantic Coast and St. Joseph.

Track and field

Kamron Davis, Flagler Palm Coast: The senior finished eighth (1:55.74) in the 800-meter run during the Florida Relays.

Kylie Neira, DeLand: The junior won the pole vault event during the Florida Relays, hitting a high mark of 13 feet, 0.25 inches.

Weightlifting

Isaiah McCloud, New Smyrna Beach: At 219 pounds, McCloud earned victories in the Olympic and traditional categories, hitting lifts of 235 pounds in the snatch, 275 in the clean and jerk and 395 in the bench press during the District 8-2A meet.

Liam Valle, University: Valle produced one of the top pound-for-pound performances during the District 4-3A meet. He had a 400 total (170 clean and jerk and 230 bench press) in the 119-pound traditional division.

Elijah Walker, Mainland: The senior set a new personal best with a 430-pound bench press. He won the unlimited traditional event with a 740 total at the District 8-2A meet.
