Vols outlast Kentucky at Kroger Field

No. 20 Tennessee (6-2, 3-2 SEC) defeated Kentucky (5-3, 2-3 SEC), 33-27, Saturday at Kroger Field in Lexington, Kentucky.

The Vols led, 10-0, at the end of the first quarter.

Jaylen Wright scored on a 52-yard touchdown run and Charles Campbell kicked a 45-yard field goal on Tennessee’s first two possessions.

Alex Raynor and Campbell then converted field goals.

Kentucky pulled to within, 13-10, during the second quarter after Devin Leary completed an 11-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.

The Vols led, 23-17, at halftime.

Joe Milton III completed a 39-yard touchdown pass to Chas Nimrod before Kentucky’s Ray Davis scored on a 7-yard run.

Campbell converted a 34-yard field goal with seven seconds remaining in the first half.

In the third quarter, Campbell converted a 35-yard field goal attempt, extending the Vols’ lead, 26-17.

Milton III completed 18-of-21 passing attempts for 228 passing yards and one touchdown.

Wright rushed for 120 rushing yards and one touchdown on 11 attempts.
