Volleyball playoff roundup: Bishop Kenny, Trinity Christian, CCA advance in FHSAA games

Trinity Christian advanced to its second consecutive regional final.

But Providence didn't make it easy.

The top-seeded Conquerors held off the visiting Stallions in a high school volleyball epic, winning 25-14, 20-25, 21-25, 25-11, 15-7 in the Florida High School Athletic Association Region 1-3A semifinals on Friday night.

REGION 1-4A

Bishop Kenny made it look smooth in their second-round match, winning a 25-12, 25-13, 25-15 sweep of North Bay Haven inside the John A. Baldwin Athletic Center to extend their third-round postseason streak to 19 years.

Bishop Kenny (22-7) will next play at home Tuesday against South Walton, which eliminated Bolles 16-25, 25-16, 25-18, 25-20. The Bulldogs close the year at 15-14.

REGION 1-2A

Nadia Mortensen led with 19 kills and Julia Howard added 15 as Christ's Church (19-7) qualified for another regional final with a 25-20, 27-25, 25-12 sweep of Harvest Community in the rubber match between the schools, who had already played twice in 2023. Sydney Kambach added 45 assists and 11 digs for the Eagles. Harvest's year ends at 21-7.

CCA will move on to a Tuesday game at top-seeded Gainesville Oak Hall, which knocked out St. Johns Country Day 25-19, 25-19, 26-24. St. Johns closes at 15-8.

REGION 3-1A

Union County progressed to their regional final with a 25-22, 25-21, 20-25, 25-23 victory against Mayo Lafayette. The Fightin' Tigers (12-12) next play Tuesday against No. 1 seed Branford.
