Volleyball: Lady Bulldogs get EIAC win on Senior Night

Oct. 4—BATESVILLE — The Batesville Lady Bulldogs played a conference match at home against the Greensburg Lady Pirates on Senior Night. The Lady Bulldogs celebrated their two seniors Maggie Wilson and Isabelle Wonnell along with a conference win over the Lady Pirates.

In the varsity match, Batesville won in three sets 25-15, 25-21 and 28-26.

For the Lady Bulldogs, Wonnell finished with five aces, 19 digs and four assists. Reesa Zimmerman had a team-high 13 kills, two blocks, three digs and one assist. Wilson and Sophie Gesell both put away seven kills. Grace Walter and Alyson Peters both had five kills. Madelyn Haskamp had a team-high four blocks. Ava Powner dished out 19 assists and Molly Meer had 13 assists.

For Greensburg, Victoria Stier led the attack with seven kills. Claire Nobbe added five kills and Claire Larrison had four kills. The Lady Pirates served seven aces, led by two from Nobbe. Rylee Hoffer and Averi Helms both had one block. Kirkley Lowe led the Lady Pirates with 11 digs. Mya Comer had nine digs and Helms added eight digs. Helms tallied nine assists while Comer had six.

In the junior varsity match, Batesville won 25-22 and 25-13.

Batesville's Caitlyn Fox served five aces and Cora Roth served two aces. Addison Luers led with six kills followed by Brooke Wilhelm and Liv Maddock with four kills each. Wilhelm had 10 assists and Fox had five assists.

The Lady Bulldogs picked up a sweep at South Dearborn.

The C team won 25-14 and 25-14. Cora Roth served five aces. Briley Broshears had four kills and Ella Weber had four assists.

The JV team won 25-20 and 25-15. Luers served five aces. Wilhelm had four kills and five assists. Fox also dished out five assists.

The varsity won in four sets 23-25, 25-19, 25-11 and 25-15. Serving honors went to Zimmerman with five aces followed by Meer with four aces.

North Decatur

North Decatur added another win to the season, knocking off Southwestern (Shelby) 25-6, 23-25, 25-13 and 25-12. Lady Chargers are now 17-10.

For the Lady Chargers, Madi Allen tallied 13 kills, one ace, 13 digs and 15 serve receptions. Miley Scudder added 13 kills, three solo blocks, two aces and two digs. Ella Kunz finished with 10 kills, two solo blocks and six assisted blocks. Sydney Rohls chipped in with 10 kills, two assisted blocks, two digs and one ace. Annie Waechter added four kills and four assist blocks.

Kelsey Haley dished out 41 assists to go with six digs, five aces and one kill. Hannah Gorrell had 12 digs, three aces, 16 serve receptions and three assists. Clare Kinker added eight digs and seven serve receptions. Sarah Moeller had four aces, 12 serve receptions and three digs.

The JV Lady Chargers lost in three sets 25-22, 13-25 and 15-11.

For North, Jo Whitaker had nine digs and five kills. Kendall Hostkoetter added five digs and three aces. Anna Mauer picked up four digs. Oakley Freel had four digs and two aces. Ally Whitaker finished with four digs, one kill and two aces. Maggie Burkhart added two digs, two aces and 13 assists. Ellie Johnson had one kill and two aces. Brooke Mauer added four kills and Gabi Adams had three kills.

The varsity Lady Chargers fell to Triton Central Tuesday 25-19, 25-15 and 25-17. Kunz, Rohls and Allen put away five kills each. Scudder added four kills followed by Waechter three and Kelsey Haley one. Haley set up 20 assists on the night. Leading the defense, Kinker picked up 11 digs and Gorrell grabbed 10 digs. Haley, Allen and Moeller picked up six, five and four digs, respectively. Moeller served three aces followed by Gorrell and Rohls both with one.

The JV Lady Chargers lost in two sets to Triton Central. Jo Whitaker put away three kills and Johnson added 1 kill. Burkhart handed out three assists and Freel had one assist. Johnson served two aces. Burkhart and Ally Whitaker both served one ace.

Rushville

The Lady Lions split with Connersville in EIAC volleyball action. The junior varsity picked up a win. The varsity fell 25-11, 25-13, 22-25 and 25-8.

Sophia Dora finished with three kills and a team-high eight digs. Brittany Mahan served six aces and Ivory Herbert picked up two digs.
