Vanderbilt football injury updates on Darren Agu, Martel Hight before Alabama A&M game

Vanderbilt football will be without Darren Agu for the second straight week, coach Clark Lea confirmed Thursday.

Agu, who has been dealing with a dislocated elbow, returned to practice this week and is tracking to be available against Wake Forest on Sept. 9, but he will not play Saturday against Alabama A&M (6 p.m. CT, SEC Network+) at FirstBank Stadium.

Several other players are questionable: offensive lineman Leyton Nelson (foot sprain), defensive lineman Linus Zunk (upper body), offensive lineman Junior Uzebu (undisclosed) and defensive back Martel Hight (undisclosed).

Zunk, Uzebu and Hight were not on Tuesday's injury report. Zunk's injury happened Wednesday, according to Lea, while Uzebu was able to practice earlier in the week but could not Thursday. Hight had to leave practice early after suffering his injury and was not able to finish.

"Think he's going to be all right but also wasn't able to finish, so questionable, day to day," Lea said.

Lea said linebacker/safety Jeffrey Ugo, who missed the season opener against Hawaii with an ankle sprain, was likely to be available against Alabama A&M but could be limited.
