Vanderbilt basketball live score updates vs Western Carolina: Commodores face Catamounts

Vanderbilt basketball, which has lost five of its past six games, returns from a blowout loss to Texas Tech in Fort Worth to host a resurgent Western Carolina team at Memorial Gymnasium in the second-to-last home game before the start of SEC play.

The Catamounts (8-2), who have ranked in the top 200 of KenPom in just one of the past seven seasons, are sitting at No. 136 with wins over Notre Dame and McNeese State.

Vanderbilt (4-6), meanwhile, ranks No. 229 after a 13-point loss to San Francisco and a 22-point loss to Texas Tech. The Commodores are rated the worst high-major team, below DePaul and Louisville, in both KenPom and the NET despite the return of both Ezra Manjon and Tyrin Lawrence.

Yet another blow for Vanderbilt is that Colin Smith left the Texas Tech game with what coach Jerry Stackhouse said the team feared was an Achilles injury.
