UTEP basketball transfer, commitment tracker
Here is a look at who has committed or entered the transfer portal for the UTEP men's and women's basketball teams as the spring signing period winds down this month.
UTEP men's basketball
The Miners signed Colorado State transfer Baylor Hebb, a former three-star recruit out of Colleyville Heritage High in the Metroplex. The junior-to-be played in all 33 games last season with 14 starts and averaged 12.7 minutes a game. The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 2.6 points.
Forward Jamari Sibley has entered the transfer portal according to Verbal Commits @Verbalcomits on Twitter. Sibley played for the Miners the past two years.
Post Ze'Rik Onyema is headed to Texas to play for former UTEP coach Rodney Terry. Onyema averaged 7.1 points and 4.4 rebounds a game this past season.
Tyler Junior College guard Corey Camper, Jr., has verbally committed to UTEP per his Twitter page @CoreyCamperJr.
Former East Carolina forward Elijah Jones is transferring to UTEP according to @Verbalcomits on Twitter.
UTEP guard Malik Zachery has entered the transfer portal according to @Verbalcomits on Twitter.
Babacar Mbengue, a 7-foot high school center from Olympus Prep in New Jersey, switched his commitment to UTEP from DePaul, according to his twitter @b_m_1_2_. He will enter UTEP as a freshman.
UTEP women's basketball
UTEP signed Czech Republic native Luisa Vydrova. Vydrova plays for the Czech Women’s Basketball League, as well as the Czech Youth National Team. Averaged 14.5 points to go along with 6.3 rebounds during the 2022-23 season.
Wichita State star Jane Asinde is transferring to UTEP, per her Twitter account @JaneAsinde. The 6-foot-1 All-American Conference forward led the Shockers to the WNIT, averaging 13.8 points and 9.8 rebounds.
Penn State’s Ivane Tensaie is coming to UTEP. The 5-7 guard played in eight games last season at Penn State and was a NJCAA All-American before that at North Dakota State College of Science, where she averaged 21 points per game.
Guard Erin Wilson has decided to return for a super senior season. She averaged 14.5 points in the six games she started and averaged 6.6 overall. She walked the floor on senior day but is opting to use the extra year of eligibility given to players because of COVID.
Elina Arike is transferring to Texas Tech. She was the Conference USA defensive player of the year this past season.
Guard Jazion Jackson is transferring to Texas Tech. She started and averaged 11.6 points for the WNIT team.
Soleil Montrose has entered the transfer portal after one year with the Miners. She announced her decision on her Twitter page @soleilmontrose.
Guard N'Yah Boyd entered the transfer portal and is headed to the University of Houston per the school's Twitter page @UHCougarWBB. Boyd started for the Miners and averaged nearly 12 points a game.
Guard Avery Crouse is not using her final year of eligibility. She walked on senior day, her fourth year with the program, and is not using the bonus COVID year.
Guard Aaliyah Stanton, who averaged 30.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 4.0 steals for Rancho Christian High in California, has signed with UTEP. She will enter as a freshman.
