USA TODAY Sports warns that UNC could be on upset alert

The UNC football program is preparing for a big Saturday night showdown with Pitt in Chapel Hill. It’s a game that will impact the Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal Division.

At 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the ACC, a win would be HUGE for the Tar Heels as we flip the calendar to November. On the flip side, Pitt really needs a win to stay in the race and would earn the head-to-head tiebreaker over UNC if it came down to that.

UNC enters this game as three-point favorites and with home-field advantage on Saturday night. However, Dan Wolken of the USA TODAY Sports believes that UNC is on borrowed time and will lose on Saturday:

North Carolina is 6-1 but living on borrowed time. The Tar Heels beat Duke by three. They beat Miami by three. Going back to earlier in the season, they were extremely fortunate to beat Appalachian State by two in one of the wildest games you’ll ever see. Now they have to face Pittsburgh, the ACC’s chronic spoiler. This is the kind of game the Panthers have won over the years, and it wouldn’t be the ACC Coastal without some Coastal Chaos. We haven’t really gotten that yet with North Carolina cruising so far at 3-0 in the league. Pitt was pretty bad last week, losing 24-10 to Louisville. If we go by history, that can only mean the Panthers are sitting on a really big effort. — Dan Wolken

This is certainly a statement game for North Carolina. A win moves them to 4-0 and gives them complete control of the coastal with tiebreakers over Duke, Miami, and Pitt. A loss, well that spices things up a bit and we don’t want that.
