Will Urban Meyer coach college football again? Ex-Ohio State coach has 'no desire'

Despite Urban Meyer's disastrous stint in the NFL, his college accolades are utterly undeniable. The Big Noon Kickoff host is 187-32 as a coach with Bowling Green State, Utah, Florida, and Ohio State, including an 83-9 record with the Buckeyes.

That type of success tends to follow coaches around, and Meyer is no exception. The coach's name has appeared next to a few vacant and speculative jobs, including Michigan State after Mel Tucker was fired following a sexual harassment scandal earlier in the season.

Meyer, however, said at the Knoxville Quarterback Club on Monday he has no interest in getting back on the sidelines any time soon.

"No desire," Meyer said when asked about coaching again.

"I am good," Meyer said, per the Knoxville News Sentinel. "I never really took a day off. People, when I say that, they scratch their head. I am like I never took a day off. I had some health stuff go on. I became addicted to sleeping pills. I was just a maniac worker. ... So no. No desire.”

Meyer's obsessiveness while coaching the Buckeyes was well-documented, specifically the manic way he prepared for Ohio State and Michigan as the OSU head coach. This also aligns with what Meyer said six months ago at a Buckeyes roundtable of coaches.

"That book's closed," Meyer said when he was asked if he would want another chapter, per the Buckeyes YouTube channel. "From now it's gonna be TV and grandfather."

Meyer seems to be sticking to his guns on that, even as the rumors continue to swirl.
