UPDATED: Worthington Post 5 falls 12-5 to Waseca in sub-state tournament

Jul. 20—NEW ULM — The Worthington Post 5 baseball team advanced to the third round of the Legion sub-state baseball tournament with a convincing 14-6 victory over seventh ranked Jordan on Thursday morning.

Triston Sauerbrei went 4-for-5 with an RBI. Cade Grimmius went 2-for-4 and had five RBIs.

Tucker Brandner started on the moundgoing four and one-third innings. He struck out eight and allowed four runs. Grimmius pitched in relief allowing just one hit in two and two-thirds innings. Jordan put up two runs with Grimmius on the mound.

Post 5 lost 7-1 to host team New Ulm in the opening round.

Jake Brandner went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Triston Sauerbrei went six innings and allowed two earned runs. He struck out nine.

Post 5's next oppoent is Waseca. Waseca entered the tourney as the four seed and won its first round game before dropping to top ranked Mankato American earlier on Thursday.

Waseca won 12-5 against Worthington Post 5. Worthington ends it's season with seven victories.

Triston Sauerbrei went 2-for-3 from the plate with a run scored and another batted in. On the mound were Anthony Quintanilla and Ayden Stugelmeyer.
