What UNC head coach Mack Brown said after win over Virginia Tech

Mack Brown’s North Carolina Tar Heels are 4-1 on the year and bounced back from a disappointing loss to Notre Dame a week ago with a big home win over Virginia Tech.

The win moved UNC to 1-0 early in Atlantic Coast Conference play, getting them off to a good start.

Saturday’s game was truly an all-around performance, the first time we’ve seen that happen all season long. Not only did Drake Maye and the offense put it together early on but UNC’s defense had its best game of the season, allowing just 10 total points. While we can’t say for sure yet if they have fully turned it around but it’s a good start.

Before we get on to Miami next week, let’s look at what Mack Brown said following the game.

“Josh might be our best player. He’s so quick and it’s amazing what he’s been able to do not being able to practice. When you’ve got a lower leg injury you can’t run. So he had three weeks where he was limited on full-speed running and he made a couple of poor decisions in the kicking game tonight because he hadn’t been out there much. But he’ll just continue to get better and better. We pulled him out early fourth quarter so he wouldn’t have to play anymore. And Lonnie (Galloway) and I just said, ‘That’s enough, get him out.’ So hopefully he’ll get better each week.”
