Tyrese Haliburton trolls Pat Beverley on social media after Pacers eliminate Bucks in NBA playoffs

Milwaukee Bucks veteran Pat Beverley and Indiana Pacers all-star Tyrese Haliburton went at each other on the court throughout their NBA playoff series.

The series is over after the Pacers eliminated the Bucks in Game 6 on Thursday.

But they're also not letting the feud end there.

Haliburton, a native of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, trolled Beverley on social media after the Pacers' 120-98 win, where he reacted to comments in which the 35-year-old Bucks guard previously threw shade at him.

Was Haliburton, 24, listening to Beverley? Of course. And he apparently has receipts of Damian Lillard's old tweets as well.

"Con man. Flip from above the rim,” Haliburton wrote on X, formerly Twitter, Thursday night in response to a video of Beverley minimizing Haliburton's skills and credentials earlier in the series.

What is the 'Above the Rim' movie? And who is Flip from 'Above the Rim'?

Haliburton's roast of Beverley is a reference to the 1994 sports drama movie "Above the Rim."

And calling Beverley Flip is not a kind reference. The movie details the life of a star basketball player in New York City and his relationships on the court and off it, including with a drug dealer. One of the characters in the movie is Flip. He's played by the late Bernie Mac and was a drug user and former high school basketball player. He was killed in the film.

The late Tupac Shakur, a popular rapper in the 1990s, also starred in the film.

The tweet from Haliburton isn't the first time someone used those words against Beverley on X. Damian Lillard, who is now teammates with Beverley in Milwaukee, used that same line directed toward him last year when they were both on different teams.

Lillard replied to a comment in which Beverley said this after Beverley's Los Angeles Lakers defeated Lillard's Portland Trail Blazers in January 2023: "If he would have cooked me you would have said ‘I couldn’t guard him’ But he misses a couple shots and it’s a ‘slow shooting night.’ 'Good job on Dame’ sounds better.”

Lillard scored 24 points on 5 of 17 shooting and 3 of 13 from deep in that game against the Lakers.

Haliburton must have known Lillard tweeted that at Beverley over a year ago and was saving it for this moment to dish it back to Beverley.

But back to Beverley and Haliburton.

After Game 4 when Beverley was asked what he saw from Haliburton in the series, he said "Nothing. Check the numbers."

Then asked about Haliburton's passing abilities, Beverley fired back: "If I gave you the ball for 41 minutes you'd have 10 assists, also."

What do the numbers say?

For the series, Haliburton averaged nearly a double-double with 16.0 points and 9.3 assists.

The point total was below his 20.1 season average, but it didn't matter because the Pacers got career highs from players up and down their roster throughout the series.

And despite Haliburton going 2 of 10 from three-point range in Game 6, he still finished with 17 points on 7 of 16 shooting in 32 minutes. He also dished out 10 assists.

Haliburton had the biggest moment in the series in the Pacers' 121-118 overtime win in Game 3. After getting the ball in the back court with 6.1 seconds with the game tied, he put a cross over on Beverley just in front of the three-point line before drilling a game-winning 15-foot floater with 1.1 seconds left while getting fouled.

Two games later, Beverley was showboating at Haliburton's expense on a basket in the Bucks' big victory. Beverley gave him a "too small" celebration and Bobby Portis, who isn't friends with the Pacers these days, joined in.

But Haliburton got the last laugh in this personal and team rivalry.

After Beverley had his best showing in the Game 5 win (13 points and 12 assists), Beverley had just six points on 3 of 11 shooting in Game 6.

And it was also an ugly finish off the court for him as well when he he forcibly threw a ball at a fan in the stands at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in the waning moments of the game and season for the Bucks.
