Twitter reacts to the Bears benching WR Chase Claypool

The Chicago Bears are benching wide receiver Chase Claypool.

Claypool will be inactive for Sunday’s game against the Broncos, as first reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. It will be the first game where Claypool is inactive.

The move comes after Claypool’s comments to the media this week, where he questioned whether the coaching staff was putting him in the best position to succeed.

This isn’t the first time Claypool has caused a stir this season. He was criticized for his poor effort in the season opener against the Green Bay Packers, where he later apologized to his team.

A report from Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer also indicated Claypool could be “shipped out” if this continued. Well, safe to say that’s officially a realistic outcome at this point.

Chicago acquired Claypool, a former second-round pick, from the Steelers last November. They traded what turned into the No. 32 pick in the 2023 NFL draft. The trade has been a complete disaster for the Bears.

With Claypool sidelined, Rapoport noted receiver Equanimeous St. Brown will be active for the first time this season.

As you can imagine, Bears (and NFL) fans had plenty to say about Claypool being benched. Whether it was being happy the team is finally taking accountability or wallowing in the fact the trade has become a complete failure.
