Top transfer portal player sets commitment date

One of the top players remaining in the transfer portal has announced the date he will make his commitment on where he will play this season. Ochaun Mathis has announced that he will make his official decision between the Texas Longhorns and the Nebraska Cornhuskers on April 30th. Nebraska hosted the former Horned Frog when he came to the spring game on April 9th where both Scott Frost and Athletic Director Trev Alberts spent significant time with the Texas native. Mathis would fill a vital need on the defensive line, especially with the announcement that Casey Rogers has entered the transfer portal. The defensive line as a unit is now very thin and could use a boost in terms of depth and talent. Last year Mathis had 45 tackles, was tied for the team lead with 4.0 sacks, and placed second with 7.0 tackles for loss. He was also a 2021 selection second-team All-Big 12. The defensive end chose TCU from high school over Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas Tech.
