Top performers from South Jersey girls basketball over third week of January

A little snow might have slowed down the action a little, but it wasn't going to shut down girls' basketball in South Jersey.

There were still plenty of top performances in the sport last week.

Here's a list of the top players from games in the third week of January.

Records and stats are through Sunday's games.

Burlington County League

Sole’il Casseus, Westampton Tech. The senior scored a team-high 15 points as Westampton Tech emerged with a 48-47 win at Holy Cross on Thursday. Six days earlier, Casseus posted 10 points, five rebounds and four assists in a victory at Pennsauken.

Samara Johnson, Doane Academy. The senior delivered back-to-back 20-points games to power Doane Academy to consecutive wins over Riverside and STEMCivics. She’s averaging 17.8 points over 14 games this season.

Addison Yackel, Maple Shade. The senior guard knocked down three triples en route to a team-high 13 points as the Wildcats earned a 55-41 victory over Palmyra. Maple Shade is 6-0 when Yackel scores nine-or-more points this season.

Colonial Conference

Maya Braxton-Young, Woodbury. The senior delivered a game-high 20 points as the Thundering Herd rumbled past Lower Cape May, 51-37 on Wednesday. Braxton-Young has scored 20-or-more points in four straight games (all wins for Woodbury) and raised her season scoring average to 18.2.

Emma Harris, Haddon Heights. The freshman continued her offensive tear with a career-high 27 points in a 40-31 win over Eastern on Saturday. Harris has posted three straight 20-or-more-point games and has averaged 20 points per content since the calendar flipped to January.

Cara Mulligan, Haddon Township. The senior collected 13 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals to help power the Hawks to a pair of wins over Collingswood and Audubon.

Olympic Conference

Imani Dennis, Bishop Eustace. The Crusaders are in the midst of their most successful stretch of the season and Dennis has played a pivotal role. The junior posted 14 points, five rebounds and five assists in a 60-55 win over Middle Township then sank 8-of-9 foul shots en route to a game-high 15 points in a 43-40 triumph over rival Camden Catholic. Bishop Eustace won a season-best three straight entering this week.

Sienna Fedoruk, Lenape. After scoring a career-high 15 points in a win over Paul VI last Monday, the senior set a new mark with a 16-point performance in a triumph against Rancocas Valley three days later. Fedoruk scored double-digit points in three straight games.

Analyse Intenzo, Moorestown. Following a 23-point effort against Washington Township, the sophomore collected 16 points in a victory over Shawnee and closed out the week with an 11-point effort against Camden Co. Tech. The Quakers have won seven straight and Intenzo has scored double-digit points in six of those games, including a career-high 27 points against Winslow on Jan. 4.

Tri-County Conference

Juliana Baez, Delsea. The sophomore knocked down a game-high 14 points as the Crusaders earned a 32-28 win over Cumberland on Thursday. Baez has hit double figures in points in each of the last three games – all wins for Delsea – going into the weekend. Baez averaged 16.3 points over the stretch.

Megan Donelson, Woodstown. The junior delivered 35 points, 10 steals and seven assists as the Wolverines picked up wins over Glassboro and Camden Catholic. Donelson tallied 15 points as Woodstown knocked off Camden Catholic to earn its first-ever berth in the Elite 8 of the South Jersey Invitational Basketball Tournament.

Nicholle Green, Timber Creek. The junior tallied a game-high 19 points and dished out six assists to electrify the Chargers’ 44-40 victory over Highland on Thursday. Green has posted double-digit points in 11 of her 12 games this season and holds a 16.8 scoring average.

Cape-Atlantic League

Brianee Edwards, Millville. The junior posted 16 points and eight rebounds as the Thunderbolts earned a 36-35 victory over Bridgeton on Wednesday. She’s averaging 12.3 points over Millville’s first 10 games.

Trinitee McKellar, Atlantic Co. Tech. The freshman collected 25 points during a pair of wins over Cape May Tech and Vineland last week. McKellar has hit double-digit points in each of her last five games – all victories for the Red Hawks. She’s averaged 15.2 points per game over the stretch, including a career-high 25 in a win over Oakcrest on Jan. 10.

Sydney Stokes, Mainland. The senior tied a career-high with 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds as the Mustangs knocked off Rumson-Fair Haven in the Hoops for Hope showcase, extending the team’s unbeaten streak to 14. Stokes also had 11 rebounds in a victory over Absegami.
