Top performers from South Jersey boys basketball from third week of January

South Jersey basketball dribbled around some snowflakes last year, heating up gymnasiums across the area.

Here are some of the top performances from South Jersey for the third week of January.

Burlington County League

Andrew DaCosta, Bordentown. After posting a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Pennsauken, the senior delivered a career-high 27 points in a victory against Nottingham. DaCosta averaged 16.9 points and 6.5 rebounds through last week’s games.

Colin Parrish, Cinnaminson. The junior guard drained eight 3-point shots en route to 40 points as the Pirates picked up wins over Pemberton and Penns Grove. Parrish also contributed a combined 10 rebounds in the two games.

Irving Singletary, Burlington Township. The junior was a force on the glass, pulling down a career-high 13 rebounds as the Falcons earned a 49-41 win at Overbrook on Saturday. Singletary had a combined 20 boards in his last two wins and 43 rebounds over his last six contests - all victories for BT.

Colonial Conference

Ryan Johnston, Audubon. The senior knocked down 21 points to go along with six rebounds, five assists and four steals as the Green Wave earned a 57-23 win over Haddon Township on Thursday. Johnson is averaging 23.2 points per game this season, which included a career-high 43 points against Lindenwold on Jan. 5.

Patrick Ryan, Haddonfield. The senior posted a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds as the Haddons rolled to an 88-50 victory over Pitman in the Winter Classic Showcase at Paul VI. It was his third double-double of the season and raised his season averages in points (8.7) and rebounds (8.1).

Max Silvestri, Haddon Heights. The freshman put together a breakout game with 23 points, including five triples, to go along with three rebounds, three assists and two steals to highlight the Garnets’ 67-54 win over Lindenwold on Thursday.

Olympic Conference

Damien Edwards, Eastern. The senior earned two milestones in the same game as he eclipsed the 1,000-career point plateau and knocked down his 200th-career 3-pointer during Saturday’s win over Sterling. Edwards finished with 29 points, raising his career total to 1,029, and sank seven triples (203 career 3-point shots). He’s averaging 16.9 points per contest with 58 long-distance shots in 16 games.

CJ Hayes, Moorestown. The Quakers have strung together a three-game winning streak and Hayes played a key role. After scoring 18 points in a victory over Washington Township, Hayes combined for 19 points in wins over Shawnee and Camden Tech.

Ben Manns, Cherry Hill West. The senior collected 16 points as Cherry Hill West earned a 48-45 win over Winslow on Thursday, extending the Lions’ winning streak to nine games. Manns has 10 double-digit point games this season, helping him build a 13.8 scoring average.

Tri-County Conference

Christian Conklin, Kingsway. The senior knocked down six triples en route to a career-high 30 points as the Dragons dealt Washington Township a 67-59 loss on Wednesday. Two days later, he contributed 16 points in a 58=33 victory over Clearview. Conklin has 40 baskets from beyond the arc this season.

Leo Impagliazzo, Triton. The senior canned 13 of 14 foul shots and finished with a game-high 25 points in a 55-48 victory over Deptford on Thursday. He’s averaging 17.2 points per game and moved within 100 points of 1,000 for his career.

Marcus Upton, Timber Creek. With four triples, Upton tallied a career-high 20 points to power the Chargers to an 85-63 victory over sister school Highland on Thursday.

Cape-Atlantic League

Kori Segich, Ocean City. The senior continued his torrid scoring stretch, leading the Raiders in points in each of their three wins over Wildwood Catholic, St. Augustine and Lower Cape May. Segich is averaging 23.9 points per game, which includes a 38-point effort this season.

Will Spross, St. Joseph. Sparking a three-game winning streak last week, the sophomore averaged 24.7 points per game to go along with 13 rebounds, 18 assists and 12 steals combined over the stretch For the season, Spross is averaging 20.7 points per game.

Anthony Trombetta, Middle Township. The Panthers picked up a pair of victories last week, including a 69-51 triumph over Bishop Eustace in the Winter Classic Showcase at Paul VI. Trombetta netted a game-high 22 points against the Crusaders, notching the fourth time he’s scored 20-or-more points in a game this season.
