Toledo stages late rally, beats Kent State to clinch MAC women's basketball title

Toledo rallied from a five-point deficit in the final 3:44 to beat visiting Kent State 64-60 Wednesday night for its 11th consecutive victory and clinch a share of its second consecutive Mid-American Conference women's basketball title.

The Rockets (24-4, 15-2) made 11 free throws down the stretch to fuel the rally.

The Golden Flashes (19-9, 11-6) led by as many as 14 points during the third quarter and were up by eight to start the fourth quarter. But Toledo shot 47% from the floor and made 13 of 15 free throws in the fourth quarter, outscoring Kent 27-15 to claim victory.

Quinesha Lockett scored a game-high 24 points to lead four Toledo players in double figures.

Katie Shumate led Kent State with 19 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots. Hannah Young also had eight rebounds and Casey Santoro 11 points for the Flashes.
