Ticket prices for Packers-49ers divisional round playoff game more expensive than for Cowboys game

GREEN BAY ‒ Tickets to the Green Bay Packers-San Francisco 49ers divisional round playoff game aren't as expensive as they will be if the Packers end up playing in Detroit, but they'll do.

The average get-in price on the secondary market for Saturday's game at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, was $357 on Monday morning, compared with $292 for the Cowboys game on Sunday. The Packers surviving to this round was wholly unexpected, if you're being honest, so it might take a day for prices to settle in. Packers fans travel as well as any team in the league, and better than most, but there are a lot of Green Bay fans in California who will want to attend the game as well, keeping demand high.

The 49ers lead the Packers 5-4 in playoff matchups starting in 1996, with San Francisco winning the last four games. Matt LaFleur's teams are 2-3 against San Francisco, including 0-2 in the playoffs. San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan and LaFleur are friends, having worked together on coaching staffs in Houston, Washington and Atlanta between 2008 and 2016.

San Francisco is the No. 1 seed in the NFC. The Cowboys were the No. 2 seed and the Packers dominated that game in all respects. After Sunday's victory, the Packers are 5-4 against the Cowboys in playoff games and LaFleur is 3-0 during his five-year tenure in Green Bay.

The 49ers lost three games this season at Levi's Stadium, including the last two, although both had explanations. A 33-19 loss to Baltimore on Christmas was a showcase opportunity for the Ravens as the best team in the AFC, and the Rams' 21-20 win Jan. 7 came with quarterback Brock Purdy and star running back Christian McCaffrey resting for the playoffs.

If the Packers win, they will play in Detroit, Philadelphia or Tampa. The latter two play Monday night to determine which one takes on Detroit. The Lions, who defeated the Los Angeles Rams 24-23 on Sunday, are hot and their fans fired up. The Lions have not been in an NFL/NFC championship game since 1991, and have not won one since 1957, when they defeated the Cleveland Browns 59-14 in Detroit. If a Packers-Lions championship game materializes, expect tickets for the game between NFC North rivals to be expensive.

When the Packers played in Detroit on Thanksgiving, the average get-in price, determined by surveying 11 secondary marketplaces, was $296. When there was a chance the Packers might go to Detroit for the first playoff game, the get-in average was $455.
